About LaunchPad Entrepreneurial Society and Summit ’26
Summit ’26 is a case competition for high school students across British Columbia, founded and organized under LaunchPad Entrepreneurial Society, a nonprofit society incorporated in British Columbia under the Societies Act, S.B.C. 2015, c. 18, on August 12, 2025, incorporation number S0083354. Its federal business number has not yet been assigned.
The event is planned for November 21, 2026, at a Lower Mainland venue to be announced, most likely UBC Sauder School of Business.
Eligibility and registration
Registration for Summit ’26 is open to secondary school students in British Columbia and to any other participant category the organizers designate, including judges, mentors, volunteers, sponsor representatives, and event staff. By registering, every participant agrees to the terms in this document. As part of registration, every participant also completes a separate written acknowledgment of risk, consent, and indemnity form specific to their age category, which the terms below summarize.
Anyone under 19 years of age, the age of majority in British Columbia, is a minor for the purposes of this policy. Participants under 19 complete the acknowledgment of risk and consent described later in this document themselves as part of registration. LaunchPad Entrepreneurial Society reserves the right to refuse registration, or to remove any attendee from the event, for failure to comply with these terms, for conduct that endangers others, or for providing false registration information.
Registration information must be accurate and current. Participants, or their parent or guardian, are responsible for promptly updating emergency contact and medical information if it changes before the event.
Assumption of risk and release of liability, participants 19 and older
This section applies to every participant, judge, mentor, volunteer, sponsor representative, or guest who is 19 years of age or older at the time of the event. By registering for or attending Summit ’26, each adult attendee agrees to the following.
Attending Summit ’26 involves certain risks. These include, without limitation, the risk of slips, falls, or other injury at the venue, risks arising from travel to and from the event, risks arising from interacting with other attendees, equipment, or technology used during the competition, and risks arising from public speaking or presenting in front of others. Each adult attendee voluntarily assumes all of these risks, known and unknown, in choosing to attend.
In exchange for being permitted to participate, each adult attendee releases and forever discharges LaunchPad Entrepreneurial Society, its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, and organizing committee, together with Summit ’26’s sponsors and the owner and operator of the event venue, from any and all claims, demands, actions, or liability for injury, illness, death, loss, or damage to person or property that arises out of or is connected with attending or participating in Summit ’26, however caused, except where that injury, illness, death, loss, or damage is caused by the gross negligence or willful misconduct of the party being released. British Columbia law does not allow a release to excuse gross negligence or intentional wrongdoing, and nothing in this document attempts that.
This release does not apply to minors. The next section sets out the terms that apply to participants under 19.
Participant acknowledgment of risk and consent, participants under 19
Every participant under 19 completes the following acknowledgment and consent themselves as part of registering for Summit ’26.
The participant confirms that they understand the risks described in the assumption of risk section above apply to their attendance, and that they choose to attend and participate in Summit ’26 with that understanding. The participant consents to receiving emergency medical treatment, including transport to hospital, if they need it during the event, and to organizers contacting their emergency contact if that becomes necessary. The participant also agrees to disclose, on the registration form, any medical condition, allergy, or accessibility need the organizers should know about to help keep them safe.
The participant agrees to indemnify LaunchPad Entrepreneurial Society, meaning to cover reasonable costs and losses it incurs, if their actions cause injury to another person or damage to property at the event, to the extent permitted by law. Participants are encouraged to discuss their attendance and these terms with a parent or legal guardian before registering, and LaunchPad Entrepreneurial Society may still require a parent or guardian’s contact information as part of registration.
General indemnification
Every participant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless LaunchPad Entrepreneurial Society, its directors, officers, volunteers, and sponsors from any claim, loss, damage, cost, or expense, including reasonable legal fees, arising from that participant’s own negligent or wrongful act or omission during Summit ’26, including damage to the venue or its property, or harm caused to another attendee. This indemnity applies in addition to, and does not replace, the assumption of risk and release provisions above.
Media, photography, and video consent
LaunchPad Entrepreneurial Society may take photographs and video recordings during Summit ’26 for use in promoting the event, the organization, and future competitions, including on the Summit ’26 and LaunchPad Entrepreneurial Society websites, social media accounts, sponsor materials, and press coverage. By attending, each participant consents to this use of their image and voice as part of registration.
Anyone who does not want to appear in photographs or video may notify event staff in writing before the event begins, and organizers will make reasonable efforts to exclude that person from promotional media, though this cannot be guaranteed for wide shots of the venue or livestreamed sessions.
Code of conduct and responsibility for property
All attendees are expected to behave respectfully toward other participants, judges, volunteers, sponsors, and venue staff. Harassment, discrimination, threats, damage to property, or any illegal conduct will result in removal from the event without refund and may be reported to the relevant authorities.
Each attendee, or the parent or guardian of a minor attendee, is financially responsible for any damage that attendee causes to the venue, its furnishings, or any equipment provided for the competition, whether through negligence, recklessness, or intentional conduct. LaunchPad Entrepreneurial Society is not responsible for personal belongings that are lost, stolen, or damaged at the event, and attendees should not bring valuables they are not prepared to be responsible for.
Medical emergencies and health information
Event staff are not medical professionals and do not provide medical care beyond basic first aid and contacting emergency services. In a medical emergency, organizers will call 911 or the appropriate emergency service and attempt to contact the attendee’s emergency contact, but organizers are not liable for delays or outcomes related to that response, except where caused by their own gross negligence.
Participants, and for minors their parents or guardians, are responsible for disclosing any medical condition, allergy, or medication that event staff should reasonably know about to respond appropriately in an emergency, and for ensuring the attendee carries any medication they may need, such as an epinephrine auto injector or an inhaler.
Changes, postponement, and cancellation
LaunchPad Entrepreneurial Society may change the date, time, venue, format, or schedule of Summit ’26, or cancel the event, for reasons including venue unavailability, insufficient sponsorship or registration, severe weather, public health orders, or other circumstances beyond its reasonable control. If the event is cancelled, the organization will make reasonable efforts to notify registered attendees promptly, but is not responsible for costs attendees incur in connection with the event, such as travel or accommodation, unless the organization has separately agreed in writing to cover those costs.
Governing law and general terms
This document is governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable in British Columbia. Any dispute arising from Summit ’26 or this document is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia.
If a court finds any provision of this document invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force. This document, together with the registration form each attendee completes, is the entire agreement between LaunchPad Entrepreneurial Society and the attendee regarding participation in Summit ’26, and it supersedes any earlier oral or written understanding on that subject.

LaunchPad Entrepreneurial Society does not sell personal information and does not share medical or health information with sponsors.
Consent
By registering, an attendee, or the parent or guardian of a minor attendee, consents to the collection, use, and limited disclosure of personal information as described here. Consent can be withdrawn at any time by contacting the organization, though this may limit the ability to participate in the event.
Retention and safeguards
Personal information is kept only as long as needed for the purposes described above, or as required by law, and is then securely deleted. Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used to protect personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.
